Jacob, now back in touch with himself, whoever that is (and why would he want to?) kicks up the dust that surrounds his now radioactive feet. The earth's crust is thin here, and too hard a kick will open up a gaping hole, showing the glowing lights of a little city, a hundred miles below, down there, through the accidental crack.
