The double-helix stairway, when placed alone on screen, revolves correctly around itself. This could be part of a grinding mechanism (certainly, such a false escalator won't take you from washing machines, first floor, to tv's, second floor     Sometimes there would be a lamp, or a stairway, for decoration.
