Diagram of a motor-driven mechanical television of the 1920's. It is the Nipkow disk, that wheel with the circular spiral cut though it, which is used by this machine to dissect images for transmission. Note how in total it accidentally looks like the axle and wheels of a railroad car. Nipkow worked for the Berlin railroad company in the 1880's, helping design a semaphore signal system for navigation through the growing urban track maze. Ella is aware of this and other coincidences.
