The Great Wall of China, butted right up against the edge of the monastery, provided adequate shade, occasional overflow visitors (1 out every 100,000 of them decides to stay, read the bible, work on building up the monastery's infrastructure).     It was a library-in-progress for the Russian Orthodox monks of St. Anthony.
